YO JOE! Super7 is going super vintage with old G.I. Joe toy reissues!
As announced on Nov. 30th on a special Pixel Dan video interview with Brian Flynn, Super7 is bringing back vintage G.I. Joe O-Rings in Fall 2024. An old style of small action figures that many fans have been clamoring for reissues of, with only sporadic sales of it from Hasbro throughout the years (i.e. the Haslab Vintage Skystriker a few years back). Flynn promises to bring all sorts of figures from the G.I. Joe franchise to the revitalized O-Ring line. From the OG Toyline, to the 80s Sunbow series, and from the comics! For a brief history lesson, O-Ring action figures are hard plastic toys Hasbro popularized in the 80s, that had poseable arms and legs (at the time), with the torso and waist connected by a plumber’s rubber O-Ring, giving the toy a flexible waist swivel. These rubber rings do deteriorate after a good while, and sometimes people don’t want to fix their toys themselves. Seems like Hasbro is fully on board to remake them, now that they got someone else to do the manufacturing, lol.
Hasbro already has a good working relationship with Super7, having licensed out a few properties for their ReAction and Ultimates toylines and other miscellaneous items. G.I. Joe, especially. Walk into any Target, and you’ll see ReAction Joes take up more spots than the Classified 6-inch section! On that note, they just launched a Kickstarting campaign to fund the ReAction/O-Ring Scale Cobra Mothership that appears in the original Cartoon intro.
This Snake-themed popcorn bucket’s campaign is coming to a close soon. All you need to do is back it for $495. They’re also selling a 5-Pack of ReAction Cobra Troopers AND another 5-pack of O-Ring Troopers as well during this limited time run. Each are also $75.
